Coconut Oil Beauty Tricks
While there is ultimately no cure-all, coconut comes pretty close to being one for a variety of beauty issues and ailments. You can use it countless ways to help improve your appearance. Here are a few of our favorite ways to use coconut oil.
1. Facial Moisturizer:
Apply a die-size amount of extra virgin coconut oil until it absorbs completely. Using a cotton round may make the process less messy.
2. Makeup Remover:
Apply it directly to the face as an oil cleanser or you can let it sit on your skin with a cotton pad. Your makeup will melt away in seconds. Coconut oil is effective as it removes makeup without clogging pores.
3. Body Lotion:
Hydrate your skin with coconut oil. Use a spoonful of the oil for the entire body. Wait several minutes before getting dressed to avoid staining your clothes.
4. Shaving Cream:
Combine the oil with shampoo and baby lotion to get a close shave and smooth legs.
5. Body Scrub:
Mix half a cup of the oil with just a handful of coffee grounds or brown sugar to make an effective body scrub.
6. Deep Conditioner:
Wear the coconut oil in the hair overnight for a shiny, strong finish. Hot coconut oil can also be used as a pre-shampoo treatment which soothes dry hair.
7. Makeup Brush Cleaner:
This DIY cleanser combines one part coconut oil and two parts antibacterial soap.
8. Cuticle Oil:
Apply the oil at the base of the nails, which will hydrate the cuticles and make the manicure to last longer.
9. Stretch-mark Cream:
While the oil won’t fade marks, it can prevent dark spots from forming on the surface of the skin.
10. Lip Balm:
Pack some in a miniature jar and smooth over the lips for relief from chapped lips this winter.
11. Frizz remedy:
Rub a dime-size amount of the oil into the hands and smooth hair.
12. Under-eye Cream:
Use a dab of the oil to hydrate the most delicate skin on the face.
13. Dandruff hair treatment:
Apply the coconut oil to the roots and massage in. This will help hydrate the dry scalp and stimulate hair growth all at the same time.
14. Whitening Toothpaste:
Combine the coconut oil with baking soda for a whiter smile.
15. Body Oil:
Slather it on wet skin after a shower for hydrated skin and natural SPF 4.
