Let's start with the advantages of handcrafted soap. That bar of soap from the supermarket looks so clean and pure. Most big-brand soaps contain harsh chemicals that can irritate the skin, alcohol that dries the skin, and sometimes petroleum products, which is just disturbing. Handmade goat milk soap is made from natural, gentle ingredients that don't leave the skin itchy, dry or irritated.

Handmade goat milk soap has another basic advantage, glycerin. All soap is made by combining a fat with an alkali. During the saponification process, the fat turns into soap and glycerin. In commercial soaps, the glycerin is removed by adding salt to make the soap and glycerin separate. The glycerin is then used in other, more profitable products, including cosmetics, medicine, printing inks and the production of the explosive nitroglycerin. But in handmade soap, the glycerin remains in the soap, providing deep moisturizing benefits.

All handmade soaps have advantages over commercial soap, but goat milk soap offers even more. All milk contains natural emollients, vitamins and triglycerides that moisturize the skin. Goat milk specifically contains the highly effective moisturizer capric-capryllic triglyceride. People who prefer goat milk soap claim that it is far less drying and harsh than ordinary soap especially for those who have sensitive skin or eczema.

The best goat milk soaps are made from fresh, not powdered, goat milk. Goat milk is an excellent source of calcium and the amino acid triotophan, it is also a good source of magnesium, protein, phosphorus, riboflavin (b12), potassium, sodium, selinium, zinc, and iron. It is rich in  fats, vitamin A, D, C, E, K, niacin, choline, and folate.

On a world wide basis there are more people that drink goat milk than any other single animal milk. Goat milk has the same amount of protien, vitamin C and D as cow milk, but goat milk has more vitamin A and B and riboflavin. Goats convert all carotene into vitamin A making a whiter milk.

Goat milk is hypo allergenic.

Goat mllk does not have the protein that is the main cause of allergic reactions, b-lactoglobulin.

Goat milk has more acid buffering capacity than cow milk or soy formulas and non prescription antacid drugs. Goat milk has a content of uric acid which can be significant in the prevention of fatty liver syndrome.

Goat milk is easier to digest than cow milk due to smaller fat globules contained in the goat milk. Goat milk forms a softer curd which makes it easier to digest.    Goat milk is naturally homogenized.
